DrScore is designed as a way for patients to give doctors feedback and to let the public see how good a job doctors are doing, at least as measured by their patients. DrScore is only one part of the system of assuring great medical care. Across the country, in every state, state medical boards are tasked with assuring the quality of physicians. They license and sometimes discipline doctors and some other health care providers.
At DrScore, we want patients to know that if their concerns goes beyond just an issue of patient satisfaction — for example a serious concern about a doctor’s behavior — it is important to contact the state medical board.
State medical boards take patients’ concerns seriously. State medical boards are also a resource for learning more about a doctor’s training. To learn more about state medical boards, listen to my interview of Dr. Humayun Chaudhry, president and CEO of the Federation of State Medical Boards on Getting Better Health Care (the May 24, 2010, show) at http://webtalkradio.net/shows/getting-better-health-care/.
