I am constantly impressed by the skills of my medical colleagues and the degree they go to in order to give their patients great medical care. Then on top of that, I am frequently amazed by the things they do that go above and beyond that, starting free clinics, volunteering to care for the poor, teaching students, helping patient advocacy groups and the like.
On my Internet radio program “Getting Better Health Care,” physician Joel Schlesinger describes his recent experience as a volunteer physician working in a relief hospital in Haiti. It’s an inspiring story.
